Most of the articles I have read that offer networking advice are quite vague and do not give practical tips on “how to do it”.

This is awesome! It helps me connect with more people that I might find interesting [ meaning - they might be prospective clients, prospective employees or prospective business associates! ]. I had no idea when LinkedIn implemented this but it’s an absolutely useful feature.
