Diwali 2009 Wallpaper

It’s Diwali season, 2006 and a lot of people are reaching the aside blog after searching for “Diwali” on Google. This has prompted me to release yet another Diwali Wallpaper [ in addition to the one released in 2005 ].

This is what it looks like:

Description
The desktop wallpaper has an illustration of Goddess Lakshmi [ or Laxmi ]. She represents wealth, well-being and prosperity and business owners welcome her on the festival of Diwali and pray to her so that she blesses them with wealth and prosperity. This Diwali Wallpaper has been created to give it an old, worn-out paper look to signify the tradition of celebrating Diwali that is being followed from the time of the Ramayana.

The colors used are the colors of turmeric and saffron, which are oft-used “puja” [ meaning "prayer" ]-related materials.

grunge website showcase

Since I’d mentioned Grunge a couple of days back, this was a great viewing experience.

Links to the websites :

• [ loads Flash - takes time ] : doubleOC OR Opposite of Corporate : I find their logo animation VERY distracting.
• ThickRecords – nice illustration.

Why do I get a feeling that Grunge is not a great idea for website? [ they look too cluttered ].

• Daniele Cascone : decent grunge – does not mix with the website content – better.
• Miron Design : splash page – not such a good idea – with increasingly shorter attention spans – you should hit the visitor with a “sale” immediately – unless you’re creating a gallery / showcase – and it has pre-loading flash – very slow.

attempt at Grunge

Two of my very good friends are grunge art fans and I’ve been hearing off and on that I don’t do any grunge at all. So here, sleep on it!

That reminds me, I need to increase the content-width of this blog.
