Logo for LinkedIn Power Women

It’s been a while since the discussion started for a logo for the LinkedIn Power Women YahooGroup. I’ve already done about six logo suggestions for the Group but there’s been no consensus so far! It can really get to be a stretch for the creative process especially when there are multiple decision-makers and innumerable ideas from various people.

Lesson learnt #1: Women are more difficult to please!

Here are versions of the logos I’ve done so far:

Very professional, business-like and doesn't necessarily shout out loud that it's only for women [ I'd read in the initial introductions that men were welcome too ] also, too much of pink/red might give the impression of being too 'girly'

Brick-red gives the impression of strength, foundation[ fading into black it gives the impression of depth ]. The letters 'P' and 'W' have been done in a different font and give an artistic look to the logo, which also gives the impression that women create things of beauty.

Red is the color of strength, passion, love and the black streaks on the left are supposed to signify women's hair [ which is a bit stereotypical, but for the sake of simplicity ]. Also has the element of rounded edge plus sharp edge.

One of the first versions, which combined rounded edges and sharp edges to show emotional advantage plus a sharp-mind [ for business etc. ]. The color yellow, combined with gray also gives a softly-formal look.

Have completely removed the word 'women' and substitued it with the female symbol likened to the way 'in' is written in the LinkedIn logo. Also retains the soft rounded edges and the sharp edge like in the first suggestion. The color pink can be substitued with a more formal/business-like color.

Here, the color as well as the shapes both suggest that the logo is associated with an organization that has 'something' to do with women. It also follows the logo formation of LinkedIn.

I’m currently doing some more variations as the poll is currently in process – am doing it more for personal satisfaction than anything else – irritating, but I like a challenge. Here is the latest version of what Brana Lobel’s idea suggested:

This logo design represents the dancing women as Brana had ideated and uses the deep-red color for passion as well as gray for representing professionalism - and the one one corner rounded as well as three sharp corners

And I’ll be updating if I get some more ideas in my very saturated head – I’d love it if I get some suggestions from the readers!

UPDATE 1: November 01, 2005

The submissions have been closed so the new logo I designed isn’t going to be considered. But the ones above it are in the fray! I’m going to go vote for my favorite and will post the update as well as the winning logo [ whoever's that might be ]. The results should be up by November 4th Indian Standard Time.

I really like your logo design just before this very latest one. I like the way you can read it two ways: Linked In Power Women, or Linked Power In Women. I like the stacking of the boxed symbols, and the way it mimics the Linked In logo.

Unfortunately, Brana seems to have locked out the process and I’ve been a tad late so the last logo will not be considered for submission. The one that you like however, will be considered since it is from the previous lot – so please do got an vote – it is number 16 on the LIPW files list.

So, I know I’m a guy and that might disqualify me from sharing my opinion, but I was browsing blogs looking at recent posts on linkedin and found these logos. First, I think it’s cool that you’re doing this. I need to get some logos done for the groups we’re planning for LinkedIn. My favorite are the first two. I like the lats one, with flowers, but (and this is probably because I’m a guy) I thought it was a little too curvy in the “Power Women” text. Take it for what it’s worth. Good work on all this.

Thank you for stopping by and leaving a refreshing comment! It’s always helpful for the designer to get a completely different view from someone who isn’t involved in the design process.

The “flowers” are actually supposed to be three women in a dancing pose!
I did think that the symbol might be misinterpreted but gave it a pass because I was designing what the “client” had asked for and it was evident to the client.

As for doing logos for more LinkedIn Groups, I’d love to discuss more! Send me an e-mail.
